It seems that every New Year comes with the usual resolutions; exercise more, eat better, and lose those extra pounds. Well, I hate to admit it, but I am no different. I had a baby in July, so I've been really anxious to start losing the baby weight pretty much since she made her appearance 6 months ago. I am hitting this weight lose from all angles this time with exercise, diet, and I'm also incorporating the use of Young Living Essential Oils.
This series of blogs will feature how I plan to use each of these specifically in my weight loss journey, the documentation of my progress, and a bi weekly check in of my current weight (eek!).
Exercise: I'm terrible about exercise. It's not that I can't find the time, it's just that I'm full of excuses. I'm tired. The baby. I will start tomorrow. It's cold. I don't want to get up. I mean I can think of anything to get me out of excercise. I decided the only way I would possible be successful with getting off my butt is if I had a end goal, something to train for that's outcome held me accountable. So, with much hesitation I signed up not only for the Shamrock Half Marathon, but also the Fleet Feet training. This requires me to keep to a running schedule, twice a week training, and of course the half marathon itself in March. In fact tonight I need to run an easy 3 miles. So here I go!
Diet: If there is something I hate more than exercise, it's dieting. I love sweets and I love having dessert. I am realistic though and know I can't have it every night, but I wish I could without consequence. I was actually smart and started working on this portion of my resolution well before the New Year. I signed up for Weight Watchers the week after Thanksgiving and I'm so glad I did! I used Weight Watchers after I had my first daughter and it worked great! I love it because it isn't really a diet, but more of a slap in the face about how much you're eating (portions) and how bad the stuff you've been eating (point value) actual is in fact! I joined WW at that particular time because I thought it would help me from over eating over the holidays because I would have the weekly weigh ins. Well, it worked! I not only didn't over eat, but I lost 10 pounds! 10! Woot!
Young Living Essential Oils: Since I just started my oily journey about a month before my daughter was born in July I have never tried to use essential oils for weight loss. However, I have heard great things about their ability to boost and compliment what you're already working. Below are a few oils that are known to help with weight loss. Currently, I am taking 3-4 drops of each of these in a capsule; Grapefruit, Orange, Lemon, and Fennel. Fennel is one I added to help boost my milk supply.
Before I dive into them please remember: That the information shared here is for educational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. I am not a medical doctor, so please consult one before using oils. I encourage you to do your own research.
Peppermint: Is known to boost energy, and curb the appetite (I am not taking this one personally because peppermint can affect the milk supply)
Grapefruit: Reduces cellulite, energizing, helps with fluid retention
Orange: Helps with depression, and boosts immunity
Lemon: Alkalizes the body, detoxes the liver, and is a powerful antioxidant
Tangerine: Digests fat, and can be used to fight food cravings and addiction
Lime: Can help with weight management, and boosts immune support
Di-Gize: Can be used to improve digestion
Ocotea: Balances blood sugar, and can encourage weight loss
